a night at berns

Another weekend has passed and a new week has started.

The weekend passed with a night spent out in Stockholm with the girls. We started out with meeting up at E's place and had a bit of pre-party and gossiping with the girls. Since we had the last weekend in mind: long lines and ice cold weather, we opted for heading out early so we would avoid the lines. So we did and just walked in at Berns where there was no lines at eleven. My first time there and I like the place, a nice mix of people.

It was a very eventful evening I must say. The night ended early for some of us and very late for some others. But all in all it was a fun night with nice people. Sunday I was just very, very tired and tried not to fall asleep until bedtime. Another weekend flew by. On the other hand, it does not really matter to me since there is not much of a difference between weekdays and weekend.

girls night out

This weekend L was in town for some fun. We kicked up our heels and painted the town red. Or just plainly had a lot of fun and great party. We partied all night long which started with just us three at E's place chatting and gossiping. A memorable night with the girls in many ways. Sunday was just spent lazying around in E's apartment since we were all rather beat and tired.

Also a lot of photos were taken to remember the night. There were many more, but let's just say that they will never appear online. I had a lot of fun girls. Let's have another one soon again.

miss you

Dear A. Was so nice to talk to her tonight and catch up. It has been too long. Of course we had a lot to catch up, a lot have happened and there has been plenty of changes for both of us. I have to take a weekend after Taiwan and go to the north and visit her.

birthday sushi

In some ways this year’s birthday was spent similarly as last year. Last year I had just moved to Copenhagen and had only one close friend and I went out partying with. This year, I also had basically one good friend in town which I had dinner with. My bad luck that most of my friends have left the city due to exchange semesters abroad.

But I got to have some delicious sushi in Nörrebro and had a good time.

me + champagne

Yesterday evening I spent with L and her roommate making pizza. To dessert we had a bottle of champagne. Last year I got a bottle of Lanson pink champagne from my neighbors as a graduation present. I brought it to Copenhagen and I was waiting for the right moment to drink it. I guess this moment was a good one with my birthday and me leaving Copenhagen. And I had to drink it up since I did not want to drag it back home again.

I love champagne. And starting my birthday being a bit tipsy from champagne, can it get any better?

one last night out

Friday night turned out to be a Wednesday rerun. Met up with E for a tapas dinner and we had a lot to catch up since it had been a while. Then I had to run to next get-together. This time with my ex coworkers in Nyhavn. First just some beers at the dock and then we sat down by one of the bars. People left one by one and in the end we were only three left but decided to go for one more drink. Happily I suggested my favorite place instead of one more of the slightly boring tourist traps. So then we of course headed to Hornsleth bar. I finally got to see it one more time before I left, goodie.

Then the third one left, K was not feeling too well, and the Swiss guy and I ended up staying for another drink and then some dancing. It was really nice music, a mix of old and new just the way I like it. At 2.30 we decided to call it quits. Quite early I must say but I was a bit tired so what to do. Maybe if I have had some more dancing friends.

One last night out. And many laughs and stories from my coworkers.

beginning of the end

Yesterday ended up being an eventful day. Had lunch with friends passing by Copenhagen and in the evening I meet up with dear C for dinner and gossiping. Unfortunately I have not been seeing her that much since she lives in Malmö. But I am going to miss her and regret that we did not spend more time together. It was not fun to say goodbye and I really hope that I will meet her again one day.

Having said goodbye to C and on my way to the metro I noticed a message from my previous coworker G. Then I decided to meet up with him as well at Sankt Hans torv. It is really nice there with all the bars around and especially in the summer when you can sit outside at the square enjoying a drink. Then also B joined us and the Brit. I was kind of tired before and kind of just wanted to go home after dinner but I am happy that I met up with G and B since I have not seen them in ages as well. Some really nice guys I of course will miss as well. I ended up staying until 2 a.m. the great benefit of not having a job and you can stay out until whenever.

A really nice Wednesday.

in the air

Here is where I spend a few minutes today. In the Wheel of Copenhagen. Although I am a bit disappointed, Copenhagen from above and at night is nothing special really. You do not see much at all, the city feels kind of dark looking from above. Perhaps it would have been nicer by day. At least one other thing to cross of the list of to-do things.

So a dinner with friends, Wheel of Copenhagen, and then some fabulous drinks at Oak room. One of my favorite cocktail bars in Copenhagen. Now I can sleep well. With a Venezuelan Butterfly in my stomach.

halvandet

Some pictures from the other day at Halvandet. Best place ever. Though it is very tricky to get there, it is soo worth it. It is tricky if you do not have a car or a bike. Which of course does not apply to many people living here in Copenhagen. Yeah, I am a strange one not having a bike. I took the bus for ten minutes and then had to walk for 25 minutes. Kind of a random place, situated in an industry harbour area. But as said, it was so worth it.

It reminded me of the good old times in Singapore at Café del Mar.

We were just lying there on the beds enjoying the good music and the warm sun. And of course the mango smoothie, the mojito, and the nachos (yeah they look much nicer on this pic instead of the previous one).

Life is lovely.

miss k

I seem to be eating out a lot lately. But on the other hand I have to enjoy the last month here in Copenhagen. (You can always find excuses for everything.) Tonight I was meeting up with K from work for dinner. Lovely K, I am really going to miss her. We had a lot of fun together. At work. At parties.

At work we gossiped and talked and she was the one that made my working days fun. Until we moved and I was not sitting with her or the others anymore. And at parties, we were the last two girls standing. Us two and the guys.

Now she has to survive the working days without me. How will she manage? We met up for a nice dinner at Riz Raz where they have a really good deal for a buffet for only 89 DKK, mainly of Greek food and everything is vegetarian. Their falafel is really good. Then we sat down at a café at Strøget and had a cocktail. A piña colada for me this time.

I have been drinking many cocktails lately. But on the other hand I have to enjoy the last month here in Copenhagen...

eventful weekend

That is also why I did not really have time to update. With a presentable apartment I could welcome my two visitors, Lois and her sister. They came Friday afternoon and was basically thrown into a dinner party. This time Lois could finally see that I actually have friends in town since they were not out traveling. We managed to fit in ten people around the table, almost New Years Eve revisited. My beloved friends called me and had decided to have a dinner party at my place. For ten people. Since they know me, they had already decided to take care of the grocery shopping and cooking. I took care of the hosting as always.

We had a nice dinner with fajitas and a traditional 'Swedish' punch (only Swedish because I made it) that was happily appreciated as always. Then I was the perfect host and left my two guests in the apartment and headed out with the rest of the bunch to a bar. (My new favorite bar by the way, Hornsleth bar.) The nice hostess continued her good job by staying out later than planning (free shots are not good...) and forgetting her keys so she had to ring the bell and wake her guests up at 3.30 am... The next morning the perfect hostess woke up to an empty apartment since her guests had woken up several hours before and headed out to town. The hostess was a bit tired and spent some hours in the sofa watching Scrubs and eventually made it out to meet up with her guests for a late lunch.

After lunch I was all fit again (although with a bit of a bad conscience) and Saturday evening we headed out for some drinks with some friends. But we called it a night relatively early since we all was a bit tired. For different reasons. My guests for being touristy and walking around town the whole day. And me. For partying while my dear guests was sleeping in my apartment.

Sunday was spent shopping. Really! It was the first Sunday of the month so the stores was actually open. So we did some nice findings.

tuesday full of goodness

Okay, it is Friday today but I was going to tell about my great Tuesday. Decided to meet up J for one last after work drink (or after doing nothing drink for me) since people are leaving town to head for their semesters abroad and not sure when I will see them again. We headed to Skuespilhuset since they have happy hour and a really nice place outside on the dock. In the sunshine with a view over the water and with a 2-for-1 deal on really nice cocktails. Perfect. Have to go there again since the drinks were really nice.

Since it was J's last chance to have a Halifax burger (best burger in town) for dinner, who am I to say no, we had a great meal after some great drinks.

We were supposed to see José González playing (it is the Copenhagen Jazz festival this week), however, apparently it got cancelled due to personal reasons. And this we found out too late when we had been running in the rain to the venue. Then it was time for some more good byes with some other friends and we went to Ruby for another great drink. One of the nicest - probably the nicest - cocktail bars in town.

When leaving and watching the clock I was really surprised that it was already 1 am. The time flew by. Good thing that I did not have to work the next day. Now I can enjoy late nights any night.

the road trip

I am back from a lovely weekend! We had a great road trip touring Denmark in two and a half days. The small rental car that turned out to be smaller than expected. With only two seats in the back and we were three that had to fit. So it was just to squeeze in our buts but we made it. The same had to be done for the trunk, squeezing and prioritizing what we needed to bring along. Think it is the smallest trunk I have ever seen. Some blankets and pillows had to stay at home. Eventually we got the trunk closed and we could head off for our first stop: Aalborg.

Reaching Aalborg we stopped at A's friends place to drop of our stuff and head for a party. Then it was time to see the famous bar street Jomfru Ane Gade. With plenty of bars to go through but we only manage to fit in three but it was plenty of fun dancing the night away.

After waking up in an extremly hot apartment with five other people and sun coming through the windows, it was time to continue towards Skagen. We had clear blue skies and drove as fast as we could to reach the beach in Skagen. We finally reached Grenen which is the northmost point of Denmark and the beach that surprisingly enough barely had any people. Lovely. We settled down on the white sand beach and enjoyed the perfect warm weather with a light breaze. Then it was time for the first outdoor dip of the year and to my surprise the water was quite warm. I usually have trouble getting into the water but not this time.

After plenty of hours at the beach we headed to town for some food. Then it was time to find a place to sleep. I.e. find a camping ground where we could put up our tents. It was a long time ago I was out camping but I do not really mind it at all. We put up our borrowed tents and settled down to have some wine and chips before getting some sleep.

I will never ever sleep on a sleeping mat again since I woke up basically every hour during the night. Next time I will for sure use an air mattress. After some breakfast consisting of juice and bread with nutella it was time to contine the trip back south and the 500 km to Copenhagen.

On the way back we made a stop in the nice town of Århus and a good dinner at an Italian restaurant. We had some time to enjoy the city but were mostly tired and just relaxed in a really nice park enjoying a bit of sun. It was Sunday evening and time to drive the last few hours back to Copenhagen. On the 15 km bridge back to Zealand we also got to see a beautiful sunset. A nice ending to a great weekend.

lazy friday

Sure, it would have been nice to have Friday off too. But it felt kind of good to have Thursday off, go to work on Friday and know it was only one day until weekend. It was kind of a lazy day, it is not good for the motivation to know there is only 8 hours standing between me and the weekend. Well, 6 hours since I decided to leave early.

Then I met Stéphane for a nice after work in Nyhavn. Sitting at the docks enjoying a cider. Reminiscing about Helsinki and what not. Then I actually decided for a quiet night at home. I have the girls night out tomorrow to look forward to. So rather take it easy.

Now the problem is that I feel like going shopping tomorrow. And me that already spent so much money on that pair of shoes. Lets see where the mood takes me.

lois lane in town

Another busy weekend. Lois came to town once again and this time it was nicer weather with a bit of sunshine. I was a bit worried though because on Tuesday last week I was not feeling well at all so I had to leave work. I also had to stay at home on Wednesday since I was still a bit fevery and dizzy. But I knew I had to go to work on Thursday since I had some deadlines and also the book close dinner. I wanted to go to the dinner and one cannot really stay at home during the day and then turn up at the dinner. I was still a bit tired but I managed to go through the day.

The dinner was quite alright, not the best though but a cozy place. We were supposed to pay for our own drinks but in the end it was some of the co-workers that ended up paying for all of it. Cool. The weekend continued in the same manner, eating and drinking out. With some tourist stuff during the day. I took the boat tour for the 4th time, did Christiania for the 3rd time, but it seems to be something new to see every time. We did something new though, a tour to Carlsberg old brewery which was really nice and with two beers included in the entry ticket.

So good times, good times also this weekend. And unfortunately it was time for work again after a three day long weekend.

long lost pal

I got a very surprising message on Facebook today. I got a smile on my face when I saw the name of who it was from. It was from this guy I played a lot with when I was a kid. We know each other from when we were babies and had vacation together and had many play dates. Due to certain circumstances we lost contact when I was in middle school I think.

I have now and then wondered what he is up to today. Last time was during Easter when I was at home and watched videos of when my sister and I was young. He was on several of the videos and we were playing together in the yard. Since he has a kind of a common name it is not easy to find on e.g. Facebook. But now he found me.

I love how internet and Facebook get you in contact with people you never thought you would hear from again.

schlager

Had a schlager evening yesterday which was really nice. J and me of course had to have this evening being the only two Swedes. Then the rest had to sit with us watching it. But it seems like they liked it and they were even involved making an effort. We attracted them with some very good punch as well.

Although. I am not sure about the winner. I was hoping more for Snälla, snälla. Only two points behind. That just sucks. That song together with Alcazar's Stay the night was my two favorites. If Mums Måns had won that would have been fine too. But this opera song? Not so sure. Well, we just have to wait and see in the Eurovision Song Contest.

After that we started with karaoke! We never made it downtown but just stayed in my apartment having fun.

long time no see

A lovely weekend it was indeed. My babe Lois invaded town and my apartment for a long weekend. The whole Thursday felt like Friday and i decided to take that even further and took Friday off. So I did get two Fridays last week. The weekend was all about relaxing, having fun, catching up and everything else. We did some shopping and also got to see some new sights in town. Got to see a really nice view over Copenhagen from Rundetårn and it is also a nice walk up walking in a spiral.

Unfortunately she picked the wrong weekend to see any of my friends. Since some where out of town and the others were sick. Better luck next time. But of course we still had a good time and as all other weekends it passed way to fast and I soon had to start preparing for work again.

See you soon again honey.

my long lost babe

My long lost babe is coming to Copenhagen on Thursday. It is about time we meet again since last time was beginning of June last year. Will be nice to have a dear old pal around for a few days.

That is one thing that is missing around here to make my life better. Someone that knows me inside out and understands. Someone to go shopping with. Someone to eat fatty, hangover pizzas and gossip about last night with. Someone to watch tv with when you are bored.

It is all those small things I miss here. All those small things that makes your life better.
