successful interview

I have come to a stage in my job searching, where I have started expanding my critera for jobs. I just want to have a job and get a place of my own again. I felt that I did not know if it was good or bad that I 'lowered my standards' if you can call it that. Maybe my standars was just too high with the current situation, not so many jobs and many appliers, since I almost never got called to an interview.

The jobs I was underqualified for I of course never got an interview for, and the jobs I though I was qualified for I did not get an interview either. But on Monday I sent in an application to Manpower for a recruitment and the same day I recieved a call. I did not think much about the job since I did not know if it was interesting, but it seemed ok.

So today I had an interview. And the job acutally sounds quite interesting. It seems to be almost the opposite of the job at Maersk so that is positive. It is a job as project administrator/account assistant. More project like tasks and the variation I enjoy. It is in a company I never heard about, still it is the largest steel company in the world. A company even bigger than Maersk.

white chocolate mudcake with berries

Made a delicious cake for our midsummer potluck in the Stockholm archipelago.

Since the cake stayed out of the fridge for a while it was a bit messy, really unable to cut pieces so instead I had to scoop the cake with a spoon. But still a good cake. So I had to bake one more and eat it refrigerated.

It has become a new favorite cake. Especially with the white chocolate I added into the cake batter. Mmm...

I found the recipe at the Swedish food blog Matplatsen, which has become a favorite with all the recipes for food and delicious cakes.

Beat 2 eggs with 2 ½ dl sugar until fluffy. Melt 100 g butter together with 200 g of white chocolate and pour into batter. Add 2 tsp vanilla-flavoured sugar and 2 dl flour into the batter and stir. Pour the batter into a springform, preferably with baking paper covering the bottom. Take 250 g of frozen berries (e.g. raspberries and blueberries) and stir in 2 tbsp potato flour and pour the berries on top of the batter. Bake in 200 C for 25 minutes, it is supposed to be loose and sticky. Keep it in the fridge over night and enjoy the next day!

better luck next time

Right now I could have been attending a seminar at the Stockholm School of Economics, arranged by the Asian Development Bank and the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. A seminar called Asia’s Institutions for Regional Integration: Toward an Asian Economic Community. The exact topic I wrote a paper about once. A topic I find very interesting.

I wish they had a bit more of forward planning and not put up a notice on the intranet just a few days before the actual seminar. So one could have a chance spotting the interesting events.

soon

Soon I might be back for real. Just keep in mind that I have been blogging for four years and never really had any longer blogging breaks. Expect when being away for summer vacations. So I guess it was bound to happen at one point.

But I am ready to be back soon.

blonder

Went to sis today to color the outgrowth and get rid of the golden, redish color in my hair. So now it is a more even blond color in my hair and I like it. I prefer this cold, blond color instead of a warmer, golden color.

My own, personal hair stylist.
Blondie.

can you cough up your stomach?

Good choice to stay at home today since it has only become worse. Last night was one of the worst ever I think (well, except those nights in the hospital after the surgery since it will be difficult to top those...).

I did not have nightmares but I had dreams, dreams that filled me with anxiety. Plus I was feverish and sweating and freezing at the same time. And of course all the constant coughing.

Still have the constant coughing and no cough medicine seems to help. It sucks.

feverish

Have not been sick for a while. Well, I guess that is because I have only been at home and now I have started venturing out in the real world almost daily.

Stayed at home yesterday and felt better in the evening so I went to work today. My mistake. I should have learned by now that you usually should stay one extra day at home, because you might get fooled. I felt completely dizzy and gone today at work and could not really focus. Now I feel all feverish. Should probably stay at home tomorrow.

It is sad though. Because I kind of wanted to go and see Miss Li at Gröna Lund. But I probably not have the energy for it.

been a while

I guess it has been a while. Can only blame it on work and laziness. After coming home from work I never feel like sitting in front of the computer anymore.

But I think it is time to start up this thing again. So that is what I am doing here.

But now it is good night.

prague?

Could I be interested in a job in Prague? A job that might not be as challenging as I wish. So what is most important, to get a job abroad or wait for a more challenging job (that probably keeps me in Stockholm).

I need to get some more information.

day at home

Took a lovely day at home today. Since I am working only 75% I decided to have a day at home searching for jobs. Of course this day at home just happened to occur on a day with clear blue sky and warm weather. What a coincidence.

So I have been spending a lot of time out in the sun today, working a bit on my tan. Then in the afternoon when clouds was all over the sky I sat down to write some applications.

It is nice to be working and get away from home to actually be doing something. It was just bad timing that the good weather came at the same time I started working. Now I miss those days a little. But at least I got the weekends. And those 25% that I can spend wherever I like.

a new old tv

I bought a TV yesterday, one of those old, thick ones. I did not want to spend thousands of kronor on a new TV, so 200 SEK for a old, fat one is quite decent. I did not even realize that you could not buy the thick ones in the stores anymore, only the flat screens these days. Technology changes fast, I bought my old TV only six years ago.

My dear old TV died some months ago and is now resting at the waste disposal site. It died right in the middle of my Scrubs marathon. But now I have a new TV and can pick up where it all ended.

When I get the TV I can also hand in my poor computer to the fixer, then I have the TV to keep me company on lonely nights. I think my computer needs a new fan, the problems started almost a year after I bought the damn thing. Hopefully it can be fixed for a small piece of money.
